Summer Vacation #1: San Francisco, Hawaii & Seattle

For our first Summer vacation of 2014 (yes, I said first…more info on the other trips will be coming soon) we spent over 3 weeks visiting San Francisco, the Big Island & Kauai in Hawaii, and Seattle. While I didn’t get to cross any new states off my my list, I did visit an island I had not been to before (Big Island), and we had a ton of fun! I am going to write a trip report for this huge trip, broken down into different places we went, things we did, places we stayed, and how we made it all happen without breaking the bank! As posts are written, the information below will be clickable.

The planning of this trip started over a year prior to going. We had spent almost a month in Hawaii in the summer of 2012, and we fell in love with it. Before we even left, we knew we wanted to go back! We decided at that time that we would aim for 2014. We had visited Kauai, Maui and Oahu on that trip, so we decided to add in the Big Island on this one. My in laws wanted to come for the Kauai portion of the trip, so we needed to find a way to make that happen as well. We also knew that we wanted some time on the West Coast before and after Hawaii in order to shorten the flying time and to gradually adjust to time changes. We did the same thing on our 2012 trip, and it was a great decision for us both times.

1. San Francisco
